Sep 15 – Get acquainted party and overnight flight to Boston
Board the bus at one of our select departure locations in the early evening and stop for snacks and beverages as you get to know your fellow Explorers before we check in for our flight. Fly away on a nonstop overnight flight on Alaska Airlines to Boston. D
Sep 16 – New England Seacoast… Lighthouses, Lobster & Maritime Lore
Arrive at Boston Airport and head north with a stop for a hearty New England breakfast. Continue to follow the coast to the Nubble Lighthouse. Our day will include a stop at one of the famous lobster shacks featuring lobster rolls and fried clams (other choices on the menu). Take a loop around the scenic Portland Head Lighthouse for photo ops and visit the L.L. Bean Company Store in Freeport. Finish the day at the Androscoggin Swinging Bridge, which was built in 1892 to accommodate mill workers walking to work at the nearby mill. The bridge has some “give” to it (nothing excessive) and spans approximately 300 feet. Maine’s fall foliage is especially stunning from this viewpoint. Arrive early at the hotel this evening to let you catch up on the overnight flight and time change. B
Sep 17 – Maine Maritime Museum, Lighthouse Cruise on the Kennebec
We head out along the rugged Maine coast to Canada. Stop in Bath at the Maritime Museum, located along the picturesque banks of the Kennebec River. The museum campus includes the historic Percy and Small Shipyard with five original 19th-century buildings, a Victorian-era shipyard owner's home, and New England's largest sculpture—a full-size representation of the largest wooden sailing vessel ever built, the six-masted schooner. Your visit includes a narrated cruise on the river, where shipbuilding has been ongoing for more than 400 years. Enjoy views of the museum’s historic shipyard and two of the Kennebec’s famed lighthouses: Doubling Point Light and the Kennebec Range Lights. Then cruise past Bath Iron Works and see spectacular views of the Navy’s most advanced ships taking shape. B
Sep 18 – Ferry across the Bay of Fundy, St. John Market and Digby Scallops
The Bay of Fundy is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of North America, and it’s easy to see why. It’s home to the highest tides in the world, beautiful rugged shorelines, and a wonderfully diverse group of whales. We will ferry across on the MV Fundy Rose, a ferry to Digby, Nova Scotia. Be sure to watch for marine life during the 2.5-hour ride. Before our afternoon sailing, you will visit the Reversing Falls—a series of rapids on the Saint John River where, if the tide is right, the river appears to reverse direction. We’ll also make a lunch stop at the St. John Market. Since the fishing village of Digby is famous for its scallop industry, we will ensure you have the opportunity to try them out before checking into our hotel for the evening. B, D
Sep 19 – Peggy’s Cove, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay… Dories and more
Travel along the coast of Nova Scotia. Our first stop is the Dory Museum in Shelburne. Step inside the Dory Shop Museum to witness firsthand the art of crafting a traditional dory and hear the story of these iconic Nova Scotian small crafts. This is always a customer favorite. Continue to Lunenburg, where you’ll explore the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, wander through the Lunenburg Old Town Historic District, and enjoy the scenic views from the waterfront during your lunch break in the village. Recognized by Culture Trip as one of Canada's top ten most beautiful towns, Mahone Bay is known for its iconic Three Churches—a beloved photo spot and a symbol of the town's picturesque character. If you thought this day could get no more picturesque, next up is Peggy’s Cove and the lighthouse. Nova Scotia is home to over 160 historic lighthouses, and this is one of the most photographed. We promise, you will be awestruck. Check into your next hotel for a two-night stay. It is within walking distance to view the famous tidal bore as it comes up the river. B
Sep 20 – Anne of Green Gables, Prince Edward Island, Fisherman’s Buffet
Cross the Northumberland Strait on the 7.5-mile Confederation Bridge—the longest bridge in the world that spans over ice-covered waters—to enter the rolling green hills and red soil of author L.M. Montgomery’s beloved setting. Visit Green Gables Heritage Place in Cavendish, her childhood home, and take a narrated buggy ride. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, we’ll stop in Rustico for some musical entertainment and a Fisherman’s Buffet with a 60-foot salad bar, chowder, desserts, and endless fresh PEI mussels. If you have a heartier appetite, there is lobster, steak, and more that you can add on your own. Then take your seat for Canada’s most incredible love story in the critically acclaimed and widely loved musical Anne & Gilbert. Featuring a 20-member cast and orchestra, Anne & Gilbert follows Anne Shirley’s journey into young adulthood as she experiences her first job, attending university, and a tumultuous romance with Gilbert Blythe. Late return to the hotel. B, D
Sep 21 – Kings Landing Heritage Village, Lunch at Kings Inn & 1901 Hartland Covered Bridge
There’s no time like the present to discover the past in this 19th-century village, where you’ll step back in time with a community of costumed characters in 70 historic buildings. Kings Landing is a collection of stories and events that helped shape rural New Brunswick during the 19th century. This open-air museum showcases over 70,000 artifacts depicting life in 19th-century New Brunswick. Visitors can interact with costumed actors portraying various roles such as millwrights, carpenters, blacksmiths, and grocers. Follow the scenic river route to the Hartland Bridge. Initially opened in 1901 as an open-topped bridge, it became the world's longest covered bridge when it was covered in 1921. The bridge stretches 1,282 feet. Visitors can enjoy walking across the entire length. B, L
Sep 22 – Kittery, Strawbery Banke Museum & New Hampshire Coast
Our stop in Kittery includes the seaside district of Kittery Point, the village of Kittery, and part of the Isles of Shoals. Step into the past and explore over 350 years of history in the neighborhood of Puddle Dock at Strawbery Banke Museum. It is unique among outdoor history museums in preserving the complete evolution of a neighborhood over centuries. The museum is a living community that tells the stories of where people lived and worked for hundreds of years. Explore historic houses—most on their original sites—including elegant mansions, working-class homes, a colonial tavern, and a 1940s corner store, while immersing yourself in interactive and educational exhibits. New Hampshire has the shortest ocean coastline of any U.S. state, measuring only 18 miles long. It has a 1950s beach town vibe you’re sure to enjoy along the way to our last night's hotel. B
Sep 23 – Boston City Tour, Hop On Hop Off. Your Day, Your Way… Fly Home
All aboard one of the top 10 trolley tours in the nation! You’ll do a taste of Boston your way. The Hop On Hop Off tour covers all the major areas, including Downtown, Back Bay, the Theater District, and the Waterfront District.
