Join us on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. See WILD and MAJESTIC grizzlies in their natural habitat, far away from human civilization! Travel via scenic ferry and our coach along the pristine Sunshine Coast of BC to Vancouver Island and back to the USA, with sightseeing both coming and going.
Day 1 Travel to Vancouver, BC for an overnight stay in waterfront rooms overlooking the scenic Fraser River.
Day 2 With a relaxed, friendly small-town vibe, the Sunshine Coast feels like a world apart from the busy city. Sailing on BC Ferries is a quintessential part of the Sunshine Coast experience. Crossing the inlets by ferry offers spectacular views of the surrounding coastal mountains. Today, we will be taking three scenic ferry rides along the way. Our Tour Manager will share the local history and lore as we pass small villages and breathtaking vistas. Check into our hotel in the beautiful Comox Valley for a two-night stay.
Day 3 In the morning, depart for our Grizzly Bear Safari, starting with a stunning 2-hour (approx.) boat ride to the Orford Valley from Campbell River, located in Bute Inlet on BC’s rugged mainland coast. The spacious, enclosed, and heated cabins on the state-of-the-art vessels ensure that you are always comfortable! The boats also feature multiple viewing decks. During your cruise to and from the bear viewing platforms, you may see large schools of dolphins, breaching whales, seals, eagles, and even glaciers! The onboard Marine Naturalists are some of the finest on the coast, continuously interacting with guests and interpreting all that this diverse ecosystem has to behold. Upon arrival, you’re welcomed by our hosts from the Homalco First Nation. You are then shuttled by minibus to a series of viewing areas that are strategically placed throughout the salmon spawning grounds. Watch these wild, beautiful bears chase and catch big salmon to fatten up for hibernation! Moms teach their cubs how to fish and survive. It is not unusual to spot 20 or more bears and cubs. These bears are NOT fenced in—this is NOT a National Geographic movie—this is REAL! A local bakery makes fresh gourmet sandwiches and cookies to enjoy during a waterside picnic. On the return, enjoy dinner at a local fresh fish and chip café in Campbell River. (B,L,D)
Day 4 Travel to Victoria Harbor with free time for lunch in the inner harbor area until our late afternoon ferry back to Port Angeles and evening arrival home. (B)
